What is Radon?

Radon is a radioactive gas that derives from the natural decay of uranium found in nearly all soils.  It will usually move up through the ground and into the air that circulates within your living area.  If your home uses a well for its water radon may be present in that water system within your home, at faucets and the shower.  Although the radon test is not a part of your home inspection, you may purchase this test as an add-on service.  At 421 Home Inspection, LLC we use the charcoal canisters to determine the amount of radon in the home you are purchasing.  Remember, the EPA recommends that any home that has radon measuring 4 picocuries per liter or more be fixed.  Also remember that there is no safe level of radon.  For more information concerning radon please visit the EPA website.
